From Amersfoort and several other locations globally, the company's business units and functions are supported by a Legal and E&C team of about twenty professionals. This team has the functional responsibility for managing Legal and E&C risks and safeguarding the reputation of Nutreco. Within the team, there are six Business Unit (BU) Lead Counsels, who report to the Director Legal and the Director E&C. For the BU Feed Additives, the Global Supply Chain function, and the Livestock Research function, we are looking for a BU Lead Counsel.
As a BU Lead Counsel, you will provide training on E&C related topics. In coordination with the Director E&C, you will be involved in investigations. Furthermore, under the responsibility and direction of the Director Legal and M&A, you may be involved in M&A projects in your BU and functional areas. You will assist in managing, coordinating, and driving M&A transactions from a legal perspective. This position is based in Amersfoort, The Netherlands. The role provides a great opportunity to work in a global organization and to support the business (management) in ensuring that Nutreco operates with integrity and in compliance with it's values, applicable laws, and internal policies.
What are your key accountabilities?
- You are responsible for managing/providing Legal and E&C advice and support to the assigned BUs/functions. Where relevant, you manage outside counsel.
- You help develop and implement Legal and E&C policies/procedures/templates. The E&C policies/procedures/templates are there to mitigate risks identified by the BU Lead Counsel based on E&C risk assessments, which are to be performed periodically. As Legal counsel, you will also perform legal risk assessments periodically to determine the priority actions to be covered from a legal standpoint according to Legal policies and procedures.
- You provide training on different Legal and (especially) E&C topics.
- You monitor compliance with laws, regulations, and the Nutreco Legal and E&C policies/procedures/templates.

You have relevant work experience as counsel (in-house or outside) in an international business-oriented environment with a focus on contracting. You are an excellent communicator and strong at stakeholder management. Furthermore, you are pragmatic, can work independently, and enjoy connecting with people to achieve results.
What you bring
- Law degree.
- Knowledge of contract law, competition law, and (basic) corporate law. Knowledge of food law is an asset.
- 7+ years' work experience in an international business-oriented environment.
- Broad experience in (re)drafting a variety of (international) agreements. Experience in M&A activities and providing training are assets.
- Affinity with the work of an E&C Officer and willingness to develop into this role. Experience as an E&C Officer is an asset.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and good stakeholder management and negotiation skills.
- Pragmatic and able to work independently within set boundaries.
- Willing to travel internationally occasionally.
